On
April 2, 2006, The Evan
O'Connor Memorial Fund
officially started to do their
"thing" by holding a
multi-community tag sale.
Families from all parts of
Fairfield County came through in
a BIG way! Donation day was
Saturday the 1st and the cars
lined up at the
Long Ridge Fire Company to
donate some very valuable
merchandise for the sale. There
were bicycles, computers, snow
blowers, gym equipment, fine
crystal and china, and enough
clothing to satisfy every taste!
We were overwhelmed by the
strong turnout, especially when
we saw more than one family
making two trips because they
couldn't fit it all in one
carload!
Special kudos are in order for
Erk "Hot Rod" Ozbelge (pictured
above) for all the extra hours
he worked setting up the
merchandise and pricing it. When
the rest of us were ready to
sleep where we were standing, he
stayed focused and committed!
Thank you Erk! Your efforts did
not go unnoticed.
Sunday arrived sooner than
expected and we were soon
scrambling to help sell sell
sell! Many customers even
donated money straight out of
their pockets without purchasing
a thing!
Kyra O'Connor, Ryan Kulish and
Amanda Morse were on hand to
officially christen the Lemonade
Stand and they alone brought in
over $120! What an incredible
job they did!
Needless to say, the day was a
huge success! We raised over
$1800.00 in one day and will be
using that money to help the
needy kids in Evan's home town
of Stamford.
We
wish to thank the Long Ridge
Fire Company along with Tony and
Sanchia Saglimbene for donating
their time, firehouse, and home!
Without you people we never
would have made it.
